Hi, well, I finally want to just jump right in here wth the rest of you and introduce myself. I am Shirley and I live in Michigan. Yes, it's cold and snowy and too cold for me! I should be used to it. I'm a grandmother of three little girls and two nephews who are as grandchildren to me. I have worked as office manager at my church for 7 years and I love it. Before then I was a medical assistant for thirty years for the same doctor and I loved that also, but it doesn't compare to this at the church. The past few months I have grown more in my spirituality than in all of my life. I believe this is because of our present interim pastor and his God given gifted way of teaching and the way the Spirit works through him. My previous pastor gave me confidance through his God given talent of preaching and teaching. I am now facilitating a small Lenten study group once a week on a discussion on prayer and lent. Last week was my first week with the group of 9 women. The first part of the study went very well, but then turned to more of a "talking" session. I was dissapointed in myself and depressed at the end of the meeting for not being able to get more "spirit" into the group. I need more help with details! And wouldn't you know it this week our pastor is away. No one else to go to except my one other partner and we are doing our best. I am trying to find some slides on Christ's journey to Jerusalem to put together to slide show, then have a discussion. Need to get these downloaded for free though. Any suggestions anybody?? Help. I'm new at this and so excited about doing something to share for lent! To share for Christ for the Lenten season so when whoever joins me on this journey gets to Holy week and then to Resurrection Sunday will feel whatever Christ our Lord would have us to feel. And we will be ready for it! And we will praise Him and will say Amen! I am so excited! I hope I can do this and do it so much better than I did last week! God bless everyone who reads this loooong intro! Shirley

UCC 101
Learn more about the UCC's past and present, and the future of our "united and uniting church" which we hope will include you! We've got blogs, videos and a discussion space where you can ask questions about the church—and about this online community. UCC members are also welcome!

Opening the Bible
We believe that when you explore the Bible, you don't have to check your mind at the door—or your curiosity. Scripture can do great harm when used as a weapon, but it also opens a door to the story of God's loving relationship with humanity.

Spirit Café
We invite you to an interactive space for spiritual inquiry and exploration. Learn about new and ancient spiritual practices, and share your spiritual journey with others on a quest like yours.

Prayer Chapel
End your day with a simple, quiet, meditative experience of evening prayer. We gather in our virtual Prayer Chapel every night at 9 p.m. (Eastern). At all other times, you're welcome to post your prayer requests in our Prayer Chapel Forum.
