So that everyone here knows, I'm part of the UC Santa Cruz United Campus Christian Ministry, a progressive Christian campus organization. We're connected to the United Church of Christ and the Disciples of Christ through the STEP Network, an ecumenical student partnership between the two already mentioned denominations. Anyway, right now there's a little competition called "Campus Chaos" going on, where different campus ministries from all over the nation get to share their ideas for spreading our message of social justice and inclusion. Each of us has submitted a short essay about something we did in the past year for social justice, and anyone can vote on the one they like the most. I got all my friends, both Christian and non-Christian, to participate, but I realized that very few UCCers seem to know anything about it! So if you're interested, you can go to www.stepnetwork.org and read all the entries there. Our campus ministry is currently in the final four! We participated in a demonstration for equal marriage rights for GLBT persons. But if you do vote, please vote for whichever ministry you feel is most deserving. :-) Thanks! And again, I'm not trying to solicit votes (I don't think we actually win anything anyway), just to spread the word, especially if you're interested to see how college ministries work for God!
