Congratulations to those forum members who live in and near Chicago!

Your bid for the 2016 Olympics was deemed best this afternoon by the US Olympic Committee and you will be in the "running" against major contenders like Madrid, Tokyo, and Rome now!

You must work hard on a future stance and hopefully the commitment to HOPE is a big draw for the world's athletes to visit in a little less than a decade will be a big planning date to draw on your calendars!  There is much to improve about your city and its infrastructure that I hope will be impetus to move toward a "greener" 21st century, environmentally speaking.  Please post here if you see the way ahead and know that this will be a great day when "all things work together for good" as the athletes come to the important festivities in your city ! ! !

Hello, ProudDog!

I have read some of the day-after analysis in the CHICAGO_TRIBUNE  and would ask you about the comments in the Kathy Bergen story (page 24, section 1):
"The U.S. has not been in good standing with the international Olympic movement partially over revenue-sharing issues. . .Anti-American sentiment around the world presents an obstacle"

Can your city make a difference for the good?  Can communities of faith in Chicago and in the upper Midwest work alongside to welcome athletes of diverse religions and no religious affiliation?  What do you think?

Have a great week!  Tee Jay.

I think any city committed to a common goal can make a difference for the good. We're good at coming together on things we agree on. And by "we" I think I'm including the Chicago area people as well as faith community folk in the area. Of course it's a challenge to unite people -- but I think it would work out wonderfully.

UCC 101
Learn more about the UCC's past and present, and the future of our "united and uniting church" which we hope will include you! We've got blogs, videos and a discussion space where you can ask questions about the church—and about this online community. UCC members are also welcome!

Opening the Bible
We believe that when you explore the Bible, you don't have to check your mind at the door—or your curiosity. Scripture can do great harm when used as a weapon, but it also opens a door to the story of God's loving relationship with humanity.

Spirit Café
We invite you to an interactive space for spiritual inquiry and exploration. Learn about new and ancient spiritual practices, and share your spiritual journey with others on a quest like yours.

Prayer Chapel
End your day with a simple, quiet, meditative experience of evening prayer. We gather in our virtual Prayer Chapel every night at 9 p.m. (Eastern). At all other times, you're welcome to post your prayer requests in our Prayer Chapel Forum.
