Hi everyone!

I used to attend a UCC in Boston, when I was studying there. I now moved abroad and am wondering how do UCC-ers manage abroad?

I would be really interested to find any UCC members in Poland – my current place of abode. I REALLY miss the UCC inclusiveness here

Hi Kaz,

Welcome to this site! I'm not an expatriot, but I think that there aren't very many UCC churches outside of the US and Puerto Rico, if any. However, there are certainly going to be some churches in Poland that are welcoming and inclusive. I found a site for a United Methodist Church there (http://www.polandumc.org/) that may be nice (check out their about us section- they seem to be very into inclusion) and you can see if there are any Unitarian or Universalist churches there as well. Otherwise, I hope you can feel at home here; I know I love this forum quite a lot.

Kaz, the church in Poland with which we are historically related is the Evangelical Reformed Church. Their website is at http://www.reformowani.pl, and you'll see a link to an English-language page that's very informative.

"Evangelical" in Europe means "Protestant," of course.

The church worships in Polish.

I don't think we officially an ecumenical partnership with this church, but they are members with us of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches. Their English page suggests that, by Polish standards at least, they are relatively liberal. Their paragraph on "open and affirming" says the church officially holds a "conservative" position on human sexuality but that there is freedom of opinion on this subject in their congregations and that all are welcome regardless of sexual orientation. By Polish standards, as you probably know, this is a comparatively open attitude.

There's also a strong statement signed by the leaders of the three historic Protestant churches in Poland (Reformed, Lutheran, Methodist) opposing the U.S. preemptive invasion of Iraq.
