I live in southern Georgia, Albany to be exact. I have looked on the church finder on the website and there are no churches listed that are within the boundaries of the search. i think the closest UCC church is somewhere near atlanta, nearly a three hour drive. I was wondering if anybody knew what might be a close approximaiton of a UCC church (i.e: methodist, non denominational, etc.) that you would suggest checking out this weekend.

thank you.

Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America (www.elca.org) are somewhat similar to us, I believe, as are Episcopalian churches. I hope you're able to find a good place to worship, even if it's not UCC. God bless!

I know that the UCC and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) have a long affiliation with each other.

FIrst Christian Church in Albany, GA is a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination.

You might want to contact that church and find out if there are similarly leaning churches closer to you.  Progressive churches tend to know about each other!  Believe it or not there are Southern Baptist churches which are friendly with the UCC. The senior pastor at my church was talking about how some of them in Texas are leaving because of the gay-bashing (and other issues) and becoming UCC.  That aside, you may find one that is similar w/o the label.
