Hello, I saw the commercial for this church and I am interested in going to see what this church is all about. I was wondering what the dress code is and how long the service is i.e. an hour, two or other. I would like some general information on the service itself. What is the sevice like? Is it mainly preaching? Are all the churches basically the same?

Thanks

It all depends on the congregation. Some churches have hour long services, others have an hour and a half to two hours. The style of worship also differs between congregation- some are fairly traditional, with responsive readings, hymns, and choirs. Others are more contemporary-based and have jazz, gospel, rock, and praise. In my experience, those are usually held in addition to a traditional service. I've found that the UCC churches I've attended are very music-oriented, with as much participation by laypeople as possible. I think the only thing you'll be sure of is that there's typically no "dress code" for UCC congregations- come as you are, as long as you're wearing something!

I agree with baronsabato. I've never been to a UCC church with a dress code so feel free to wear whatever you're comfortable in.

Also, like he said, the length of the services and music styles differ from congregation to congregation. But if you don't like one, try another!
