I am interested in the UCC as described on this site. Is there a great difference (or any) between UCC and Church of Christ? I found a Church of Christ in my area, but they seem very conservative on their website. There was an article about men being the only leaders in the church, for example. I know all UCC's differ, but is CC the next best thing?

Welcome. You've asked a great question for the "What is the UCC" forum!

The UCC is very different from the CoC - to the point that that distinction is one of the first things out of the mouths of representatives of both denominations. In fact, if you listen carefully to the commercials, you'll hear the announcer say something like "the United Church. Of Christ," to help keep things separate.

The entire history is long and not very interesting. The short version is that the two denominations come from separate streams of Protestantism. See here for more information: the UCC falls under the "Presbyterian/Reformed" family, and the Church of Christ comes from the "Restorationist" family.

In practice, UCC churches tend to be moderate-to-liberal, while the Church of Christ is very conservative fundamentalist. They're the folks who don't believe in musical instruments in worship, or as a friend of mine put it, "they make the Southern Baptists look like pinkos."

Take that as you will.

If you're in the South, you'll probably see plenty of both denominations, but if you stop by the Still Speaking website, you can type in your Zip Code, and a locator will find the nearest church/es in your area.
