Standards and Practices for Forums and Other Discussions

Welcome to forums on i.UCC.org. To make this forum experience enjoyable and meaningful to all, we ask that you abide by the following standards.

To contribute to these forums, users must be registered. Required fields include an operational e-mail address and first and last name. Any registrations submitted without this information will be deleted without warning.

There is a diversity of opinion about the Bible, the Christian tradition and many other issues, both in the United Church of Christ and in these forums. This diversity should be respected. Attacking or accusing any individual or group of dishonesty or bad faith will not be tolerated.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to the suspension of your user account.

Forums and other public discussion spaces on i.UCC.org are not an appropriate means for communicating allegations of professional or pastoral misconduct in UCC congregations. These concerns, which are taken seriously, are properly handled by Associations, which in the United Church of Christ have jurisdiction over questions regarding clergy fitness. For more information, please contact our Parish Life and Leadership Ministry Team which can help you contact the appropriate Association. Confidentiality will always be protected.

The use of our forums and other public spaces for advertising services or products for sale is prohibited. Please consider as an option classifed ads at ucc.org/classifieds or in our newspaper, United Church News.

The site administrators and forum moderators have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time.

As a user, you acknowledge that messages posted on public forums can be read by any other user of this site.

Your email address and other registration information is stored in the site's database. It is protected and will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent. However, the owners, administrators and moderators on this site cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

While the site administrators and forum moderators will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore, you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the site owners, administrators and moderators (except for posts by these individuals) who thereby will not be held liable for the content of any message.

Communities on i.UCC

UCC 101
Learn more about the UCC's past and present, and the future of our "united and uniting church" which we hope will include you! We've got blogs, videos and a discussion space where you can ask questions about the church—and about this online community. UCC members are also welcome!

Opening the Bible
We believe that when you explore the Bible, you don't have to check your mind at the door—or your curiosity. Scripture can do great harm when used as a weapon, but it also opens a door to the story of God's loving relationship with humanity.

Spirit Café
We invite you to an interactive space for spiritual inquiry and exploration. Learn about new and ancient spiritual practices, and share your spiritual journey with others on a quest like yours.

Prayer Chapel
End your day with a simple, quiet, meditative experience of evening prayer. We gather in our virtual Prayer Chapel every night at 9 p.m. (Eastern). At all other times, you're welcome to post your prayer requests in our Prayer Chapel Forum.
